I have owned multiple brands of electric can openers from the twenty dollar range up to one that was over one hundred dollars that was a gift. All worked well for a few months and then ended up being thrown away.

I have gone back to using a hand operated one, and actually own an older model of wall mounted Swingline brand that belonged to my Mom, and I kept it after I closed up my parents house.

It works better than any of the electric ones I have tried. Pretty sad, it has to be 40 years old, but it actually grips the cans and you don't have to hold them on the machine.

I can remember my husband a few years ago battling it out with one of the electric openers that he opened the kitchen door and threw the opener, can and all out in the yard. We had a laugh over it later, he was stopping himself from throwing it through the window, it was so frustrating. Our kids thought it was quite comical that he was throwing things out in the yard.

The hand openers we own now are one Swingline and one by Zyliss which actually locks onto the edge of the can and remains clamped on safely until the can is opened.

It is amazing to me that we have computers that we can communicate with the entire world in seconds, but we cannot seem to solve the electric can opener problem.

Hope this helps, Have a good day.

I would tell you the name of mine but the manufacturer would sue me.
It started out as a "good can opener" then it began to change. Patterns emerged that gave me great concern. First it started stay out late. Then it started bring home some "questionable company."
Before I knew it, it was ripping cans open we didn't even plan to use, when I asked why? it replied "I don't know, why are you always hassling me?" I told it "because I can."
It got to where we had to part ways, and I am glad of it. Now I use a Swingaway brand manual opener, and it is always there ready to do the job, without complaint.
My advice is keep a weather eye on those electric ones, they seem to be on a "power trip."

The Gizmo is the only electric I use. They only (in my experience) last one year, but it is the only one that doesn't frustrate me and have me root through the silver drawer to find a hand powered opener.

The gizmo is easier because you clip it to the can, not the other way around. Then it runs around the can and cuts the top off.

No I don't .... good electric can openers are in the same league as Big Foot and the Lochness monster. I always hear about them, but I don't really believe they exist.
