DISPLAYING ABSTRACT - Attorney General Janet Reno today demanded the prompt resignation of all United States Attorneys, leading the Federal prosecutor in the District of Columbia to suggest that the order could be tied to his long-running investigation of Representative Dan Rostenkowski, a crucial ally of President Clinton.

Funny how they forget their "god" did even more.

It's not uncommon for all leaders of a particular executive agency to be fired when a new president takes office. If you look at the timing, it was about two months after Clinton took office, following 12 years of the opposite party being in charge.

Just like each president usually fires his entire cabinet at the end of each term, and then re-appoints those who he wants to continue in office. So, it would also make a difference how many of those US Attorneys were immediately put back into their same positions.

Now, if Bush had done this in 2001, after 8 years of Democratic rule, then your analogy would be valid.

But the evidence tends to suggest that those specific individuals were targetted, not as part of any broad "spring housecleaning" process. And if they were deliberately targeted because of their politics, that's improper.

That's the issue. Not whether they were fired, but why.

Demanding for cause (without firing them), and firing them for political reasons is far different! Too bad you didn't think of that before you asked your question! You are comparing apples and oranges!

Additionally, the Attorney General LIED about their firings has he had e-mail contact for over a year about them with the White House! That is why he is being asked to resign!

It isn't the FACT that he fired them that's a big deal. It's the REASON.
