The English colonial leaders who took up arms against King George of England, an act of high treason and terrorism that you could then and now be executed for if you don't get away with it. With much help from French who were involved in a major war w. the motherland at the time, the colonists who sided with the revolutionaries and fomented guerrilla warfare won power for their leaders, those who chose not to belong to a separate state moved northwards and became Canadians. A lot of people will tell you a lot of fairy tale stories on this especially at an American school but this is the truth.

The victors write history. Few Americans actually fought in the American Revolution. Certain individuals, mainly attributed to the Masonic Fraternity, are credited for starting and fighting the American Revolution against the English Tories or Redcoats. It is noted that half the signers of the decleration of independance were Masons. Many of our presidents including our founding father was a Mason. You cannot say that the Masons won the war though because there were also Masons on the British side as well.
