But the "take & toss" ones, I think they are called. They have a hard spout with just holes, the are NOT no spill AT ALL. If even then she acts like the liquid isn't coming out fast enough there are some for older kids that have just one big hole, the t&t ones have three small holes.
Yup this is them:

They come in different sizes, and are reusable though may not last as long as some. On the other hand they are cheap enough you don't care if you toss/loose them.

One year is right on the edge for learning to use a sippy. Don't worry too much. He'll get the hang of it. He also might be chewing because he's teething and just because it feels neat. Keep introducing the sippy and he'll figure it out soon. I'd leave him with the softer ones for now. I liked the Nuby ones. They were like a transition from bottle to a harder sippy for my son. He's now 21 months and has been using a regular cup for three months. When he does use a sippy -- in the car, for example -- we use the Walmart brand ones that are 97 cents. I think they are Nuby brand too, but they have hard spouts. Good luck!

OK this is going to sound crazy but my 6 month old drinks from straws...we were at the mall one day and she kept eyeing her bother's juice box (100% juice of course) and so I got her one and you know how you can stick your finger on the top of it and some of the juice stays in the bottom of the straw? Well I let that dribble into her mouth and she started sucking on it, so I stuck the straw back in the juice box and let low and behold she started sucking the straw!! Since she mastered this I have given her those toddler cups with the pop up straws and it took a few tries doing the same thing but she's a pro at it now! Everyone is always amazed that my 6 month old drinks from them but it's actually a lot easier for her than a regular sippy cup.

Just keep giving it to him. It took my son about 3 months to figure out that water came out of his "toy". You can also take the "no spill" rubber thing out of the playtex sippy once or twice, so he gets the idea.
Until he gets the hang of it, breastmilk has plenty of water, so you don't need to worry about that.

if you are talking about a rubber one, i like gerber transition cup, its my sons favorite one. he chews on it a little, yes but its harder for him to chew on it since its flat. he sucks more than chews. its spill proof too but you can remove that feature easily.
