I cant figure this out!!
I got a degree in art but painting doesnt really get you anywhere.
I have a really special gift with animals, but its so hard to get any decent animal care job (in a zoo, ideally) and it hardly pays anything.
I wanted to be a Jim Hensen Creature Maker at his shop here in Cali and make muppets and movie special effects but thats even harder to do.
Then Im liker "maybe I should be a midwife? That looks awesome..."

I just cant pinpoint what I want! Im 23 years old!! Help? Suggestions on how to figure this out?

Do you know what? I'm 32 years old and still have not figured out what I want to do. Hopefully you'll figure it out sooner than later - but I would like to say that you should follow your passions and do what makes you happy and not worry too much about how much money you make. Live within your means and be happy!

Well, first, use that art degree to earn some cash...even if it's only part time. Try getting a position in a museum, school or gallery. I live in a major city and several of our museums offer classes for kids, seniors, etc. We also use art instructors for camps, after-school programs, community projects, etc.

The animal care thing...think about working as a pet-sitter or dog-walker, or as a groomer, etc.

If you still want to explore your artistic side, then go for puppet making. Why not do a few part-time jobs and look into making custom-made puppets.

You are young, so you can get your hand in many things. Stop making excuses as to why it won't work, and try it. You are defeated before you even try.

Instead of looking for a job, make one for yourself. While you are doing that, work at one of the other places listed for actual cash to live on!

As for the midwife thing, ew! I've got kids, but again, ew!

Go to the link below and take the career assessment test they offer. They match up your interests to different jobs.

I wish this was available to me at your age. I went through school and years in a career that I loath.

I have nothing to do with that web site, but I'd say spend the $ to get the full report. I think the results are pretty spot on.

whoah time is running out.

listen you either want to be rich or happy.

you must make up your mind on that then move along.

you can't have both in most cases... fulfillment or pentitude... which will it be.

remember there's too many folks unhappy with their jobs... not just because they're not making enough.
