Well when I started my period I was 12, and I didn't think it was my period I thought I hit myself :P Silly I know, but I was always in denial.

Just talk to a family member you feel confortable talking to, have them tell you how to use a pad. You shouldn't use a tampon for a while. I think a few months after you start your period then you should be able to.

But remember change them often they say every 2 -4 hours depending on how heavily you flow.

Your period should last between 2 - 7 days depending on your body type.

And then remember mark on a calendar the day you started and the day you ended, so that you can calculate the next time you start so you can be prepared (trust me you don't wanna start in school)

and you can get medicine for the cramps (if you get any some people don't)

But don't worry it's a natural part of life!
But now that means you can get pregnant. So remember if you ever plan on having sex (and it's best to wait to have sex...really it is. Don't rush that) use protection and/or birth control.

most people have cramps in the lower abdomen. Its normal if you dont have them though. for the first year your period will be iregular and hard to predict. it should last 7-9 days but when first starting it may be longer or shorter, dont worry. You will probably more emotional and iritable around this time. Its nothing to feel bad about. You may also get cravings for a certain type of food. Everyone reacts to it differently, some people sleep less, some people get back aches, some people eat constantley and some people dont eat at all. At first it might feel really weird, but after about a year or 2 things should go smoothley. and if your period isnt straited out by then birth control pills help with that.

Hope i helped. Bye

You're ok! You're not dying! Did your mom explain periods to you? If not, you'll still survive! The bleeding will last about a week give or take a day and it will get lighter after the second day. I'd start off with maxi pads until you get used to your personal flow then move on to tampons. I would tell your mom so she can go buy the supplies you need. If you're in need of something to use until she does, I've used a wad of toilet paper or a folded up paper towel in a pinch. Relax! This happens to everyone!

I would say that is your period. you need to talk to your mom about it. But if you want to use tampoons your mom should have some also pads are good for your first few times. usually your first few times will be very light and only last about 2 to 3 days. make sure you keep track of the day it happened and then count 4 weeks after that day for when the next time should be. Usually when you start out you willl not have one regular every month for me mine was ever 6 weeks it can be even longer for different people you just need to make sure your mom knows and have her help you too.

aww your first period! All there is to it, is now every once in a while (b/c it will take a while to become regular) you will get your period. Always carry pads or tampons with you, whatever you're comfortable wearing. depending on how old you are, it could be a little embarrassing, but you can hide them. get a little pencil pouch that you can put in your binder or something for school, or just start carrying a small purse with your stuff in it. there's nothing to be scared of, and its all normal, which I'm sure you know. another person you can talk to is your mom... she can also help. Good luck!!!

Yes, talk to your mom, aunt, or any other female in your house. For the first few weeks or months, your period will be irregular, but it will become regular (Meaning it always comes around the same time of each month) soon. Also, sometimes it may come unexpectedly so bring a pad or tampon to school just in case!

It's your period. Most girls get them around 12 or 13. I'd give your Mom a call, if she's not at home. Don't be embarrased. It's something all us ladies get and you have it for years. Talking to your Mom will help you. Good luck!

Sounds like your period. This is what happened to me. Talk with your mom or sister. They can help you out and put your mind at ease. As long as you are not in any severe pain it sounds like thats it. You rmom can cal the DOC and ask them too.

I wouldnt worry :)

if it is really ur period expect to see more blood for the next four days. expect tommy aches or other aches, mood swing, change in eating habit, tender breast, acne break out. p.s please speak to someone about it since you will need sanitary napkins or tampons to prevent the blood from messing your garment. welcome to the club of adolescents. have a happy period. if not ......
it may also be other reasons so pleeeeeeze speak to some responsible who will listen.
