Hello. I am 7 weeks pregnant and already feel a bump although they say that until 9 weeks the placenta is below your pelvic bone and should therefore stay hidden. I think when you are slim it is more obvious. Are you sure you are only 5 weeks? With both my previous pregancies, I had bleeding when my period was due for the first month and therefore had to have dating scans. May be worth checking with your GP.

I was 5'1" and 120lbs. I noticed the small change in my body and a "bump" very early on. It is possible to notice it yourself, unlikely that anyone else will notice the change as you know your body better then anyone! However I think that 5 weeks is still way to early to show a baby bump... but if you have gained any weight since you found out then that could be what you are seeing not a baby bump. If you want to tell for sure if you are getting a baby bump (early on it is hard to determine sometime even for yourself) You can start taking belly pictures once a month or every other week... I did it once a month throughout my pregnancy and was shocked at how big I would get each month! I started that at 6 weeks(right after I found out) until the week before I gave birth!

At 5 weeks it's not the baby that's showing...even if you were a slim size before. At 5 weeks the baby is about 1/4 of an inch long...you can however, get a bump at 5 weeks due to weight gain (hellooooo food cravings!!) and especially due to being bloated and water retention.
I was in maternity pants by 8 weeks because I was so gassy and bloated!!

You would not see any bump at only five weeks. You could gain weight if you have been purposefully been eating for two. Also breasts become enlarged and could account for some weight gain. You may have been pregnant longer than you think you have. You can sometimes have periods early in your pregnancy and not be able to determine when you got pregnant. A doctor would be better able to tell as would an ultrasound. Your size won't make a difference really. Some people wear baggy clothes which makes it hard to tell.

I was a size 3 and didnt "show" until about 25 weeks or so... I had a very small bump at 16 weeks, but that just looked like I was gaining weight and bloated... so I didnt really get a baby bump until week 25... but its possible I guess... everybodys body and pregnancy is different... Good luck and God bless!!

Everyone is different with each pregnancy. I was a size 6 and didn't show at 5 weeks but i did notice that I started developing the "baby fat" underneath my stomach in preparation for pregnancy about 7 weeks. It seemed overnight that I started to show (about 14 weeks) to the point where people around my work (at a university) were commenting.

Yes. It's not the baby, it's your uterus growing and you bloating. I always love the people that say "I'm small so I won't show until later" or "I'm small so I'll show right away". Both answers are right. I was very small (5'2") and appropraitely thin and I showed by 3 months with my first.. 8 weeks w/my 5th! My friend is even thinner than me, almost too thin and she didn't really show until she was 6-7 months! It's not dependent on your size, it's dependent on you and your body.. unless a woman is very large, she probably won't show until later.

Probably not..unless your gaining weight just from eatting alot. But the baby is SO FAR down still you probably wont notice much until around 12-15 weeks. I personally didnt show until I was about 18 weeks..and still didnt look big until just the past few weeks and Im due April 18th.

Everyone is totally different, I know women who have looked full term half way through and women who have looked about four or five months at nine. it depends on alot of factors, the main one's being the position of your uterus, your frame size and if it is a multiple pregnancy. if you are convinced you have a visable bump at five weeks I would suggest a midwife feel your uterus in the next few weeks if it contiues to grow, as this would be a very strong suggestion of a mulitple pregnancy.

your dress/body size is no indication of how quickly you will show. I have two friends who both had babies six years ago. Both are size 8/10, one had a high uterus and didn't show for MONTHS, and the other started to gain weight from conception onwards! She ballooned even though she ate sensibly! The human body never follows a set pattern, but a general rule is that larger people often manage to hid pregnancy for longer - but I've met exceptins to that rule too!
