i really liked final fantasy adventure. it's old, yes, like 16 years old, but it's cute. yes, i'm aware that gameboy game is actually the progenitor of the secret of mana series, and is more seiken densetsu, but it still bears the name, even if it was only to bolster sales.
if that's not an option, i'd have to go with final fantasy tactics, another game that you failed to mention. you used the word best, not favorite, so i'd have to go with my players on FFT being my best
if you meant FAVORITE, i'd have to go with FFIVA on GBA, it was easily the best version of the fourth final fantasy

Final Fantasy 8...I loved the characters and the story. To bad they didnt have voices like they were supposed to

Final Fantasy 6. I like the characters, the story fits together well, and it's just a lot of fun. Part of it is usually based on which one you played first, that'll usually be the one you remember most fondly.
