My sister's 2nd baby was a scheduled c-section because her first baby was delievered as an emergency c-section at 32 weeks due to problems with baby and pregnancy.
She ended up going into labor the day before her scheduled c-section and had the baby vaginally...however, she tore so badly that the doctor said she absolutely CANNOT deliver another baby vaginally...she must be scheduled for c-section delivery from now on.
Generally they schedule you if you've had past c-sections, probablem pregnancies, or if something is wrong or you are high risk. They don't just schedule c-sections without reason.

Most OB's will not schedule a C-Section just because a woman asks for it. More often than not, there must be a medical reason for the c-section. Usually if a woman has had a previous c-section, she will schedule another one during her next pregnancy. I had to schedule a c-section very late in my pregnancy due to my baby's size and he was feet first. I know some women choose c-sections because it's more convenient.

If there are no complications it is for convenience and to avoid labor. Labor is natural and normal and better for the baby to come through the birth canal than taken from the abdomen. There is purpose in this design. I would not recommend scheduling a c-section. It also limits the number of children you can have. Also hospitals get more money for a c-section. Hospitals are a business as well as a place to help people. Remember, doctors are people too (not gods) and if you research obstetric history, you will see that they change their views a lot. You have to be informed about birth, your body, and your baby and make the best decision for your family. Birth is a wonderful thing and the more you are educated about it, the less fear you have and truly the less pain you have. I suggest signing up for Bradley Birthing classes and learning about labor and birth. You will not regret working with your baby to bring them into the world in the healthiest way possible.

There are many many reasons. Some women like the idea of picking their child's birthdate or other such selfish reasons. Some think its the easy, pain-free way out (p.s. its not). Some women have an underlying medical need for a section. Some women have had a previous section, and to avoid possible complications, opt for another.
Personally, I had an emergency section. My doc had tried to get me to schedule one ahead of time, but I wanted to try labor. I will try to labor again this time. Best of luck

i think some doctors do it more than they are really supposed to but the only real reason i know of is if they feel for some reason that the baby or the mom would not do well to go through a traditional vaginal labor so they would schedule a c section, for example a friend of mine who is quite small had a scheduled c section bc her baby was quite big and the doctor felt she would not be able to have the baby naturally.

I did with my first new child. She replaced into 10 days over due, so that they prompted and that i nonetheless would not dilate. After 8-9 hours on Pitocin devoid of progrees, I had a c-section. It replaced into bizarre, yet jointly as I felt like she replaced into MY toddler, I additionally on the comparable time felt like I hadn't had her. i recognize that sounds bizarre and stupid, in spite of the indisputable fact that it replaced into ordinary. I did experience cheated out of the childbirth adventure. Had my different 2 infants via c-section, and those 2 have been scheduled sections. when you consider that I knew what to anticipate i did no longer experience cheated because of the fact I concentrated on the appearance of the youngsters, while with my first I had concentrated on the certainly hard artwork and shipping for see you later. the mind-blowing purpose is to furnish a healthy toddler interior the form maximum secure for mom, so do no longer hassle too plenty approximately it. :-)

Some women for whatever reason know long before their due date that they need a c-section.
As others have said, maybe they have an STD, or maybe they had a c-section previously. Many doctors won't risk what is called a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) and if you have already had a c-section demand or highly encourage one again.
That's why!
