in grand theft auto:3 how do i get the subway, carway, or the bridge open(which ever opens first)?

Not sure which of the GTA3 franchises you're playing, but all of them have pretty much the same game-opening tactic.

You have to pursue the missions in the area you're in first. They open as you progress in the game. ALmost always they'll make an announcement on the radio when a section opens up (I.E. the strike is over, or the hurrican warning is over, or the construction is complete, etc)

There are ways to get across before it opens

I used a cheat that makes all vehicles lighter. If you use another cheat to spawn a tank you can turn the gun around and use it like rocket thrust (fire it over and over again) and fly across the bridge.

You must first beat all the missions on stanton island (the main storyline missions) and you will unlock the passage ways to the next island.
