Why does batman wear a cape?

Don't know, only the creators of this superhero know, maybe it was cool; since all the other superheores had capes even though Batman didn't have any super powers, his creators wanted to make him look cool.

He can't fly, but Im guessing in place of the wings since bats have them and he is bat man without the cape he would be just a man in tights and would probably look a little less batty......
