There was a big meteor shower in Toronto a few days ago. Meteors hit Earth all the time.
Whether we will be hit by a meteor large enough to cause our extinction on that date has a VERY small probability of happening.

purely somebody who's already a zombie might have confidence this form of far fetched yarn! Meteors hit the Earth via the thousands on a daily basis, and we in no way additionally be conscious ninety 9% of the time. Scientists do no longer assume something out of the traditional to happen in the 300 and sixty 5 days 2012, or specifically on the date December 21, different than the solstice, which occurs each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. not one of the "predicted" happenings for 2012 postpone below close scrutiny. "Planet X" and "Nibiru" only do no longer exist. The Mayan calendar ends a cycle, yet there have been no predictions of the top of the international. The sunlight would not line up with the galactic centre; this is 6 stages off. No asteroids or comets are certainly predicted to hit Earth. All of those issues become prepare via crackpots with the intention to sell their books and tv shows, and shamelessly promoted via the background Channel. do no longer take any of it heavily!

Yes, a meteor is going to hit earth in 2012.
A meteor hits Earth every year -- in fact, every hour. There are 1000's every day. It's just that most of them are so small, nobody notices. Average size: about the size of a large grain of sand.

Apparently there are thousands of meteor's out there flying around. They say that there is always the possibility that one could hit earth. The one that I think you are talking about, they say, could wipe out an entire city and the surrounding area. Seriously, all this talk of meteor's and global warming is giving my 11 year old a freaking ulcer. I think everyday she comes home and asks me "Mom, do you think that if a meteor hits the earth that it will do to us what it did to the dinosaurs?"....unfortunately, I believe the answer is yes. I feel that is is entirely possible.

Meteors hit the Earth just about every year.
I'm betting that the ones that hit in 2012:
a) won't be very big
b) won't do any damage when they land

No, rather it is highly unlikely. Why? Is someone trying to sell you some meteor insurance?

I don't know but doesn't the Mayan Calender end on December 22, 20l2?
I'm not going to worry about it though. What's to be will be.
