I have a laptop with a wireless adapter that seems to be functioning perfectly...the only problem is nothing I try to do works. I've gone through all the configuration settings, help settings, etc and it shows that I have an excellent connection. However, when I try to login to Yahoo or open a website it says no connection available...yet I can SEE there is. I remember previously when this happened, someone told me to type some stuff in (I forgot) under the MSDos prompt screen and everything suddenly worked fine. Does anyone have any clue what's going on and a quick and painless way to get my computer's excellent signal to attach itself to what I'm trying to do and let me online?
It's a weird scenario because 99% of all the help for this type issue that's found online leads me back to where I started. Once I get an excellent/good signal, it should just work...yet it's not working.

HELLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!

Unplug and disconnect your wireless router for at least 2 minutes. Hook it back up and everything should work. This allows the modem router to reset. Do not push the actual reset button or you'll be screwed.

Turn off the router and restart your computer. Sometimes you need to update your ip address. If that does not work, try opening a webpage. On the top select tools, Internet options, Connections, Lan Settings, and make sure the box that says, Auto detect setting is checked. If this does not work you can hit the reset button on the router (Small little pin whole). If that does not work you will need to call your service provider, they can walk you through some other things. Such as giving you an ip address to type in. I would also suggest making your wireless internet connection private. (Or are you trying to use someone elses wireless conection?) If the connection is private you will see signal strong but it will give you a no connection available.

While in DOS...C> ping www.yahoo.com, if it pings correctly then it should tell you the speed etc. If it doesn't ping and says something like Timed out or Host not found, then it's your internet connection server.
Just because you have excellent connection doesn't mean that your connected, it just means the connection to your router is working excellent (not your online sever).
