No, not at all. I've used one many times. As long as you follow the directions for use, it's safe. You can't just turn on the heat and walk away and forget it any more than you can with anything on the stove or in the oven. It's a good appliance but, like all other kitchen appliances, you have to follow instructions and keep an eye on it.

My grandmother has used a presure cooker for so many years and never had a mishap. I would love to have one that is as old as the one she has, but they don't make them like that anymore. The new models are really safe and usually won't build up pressure until they are locked and loaded=)

Alittle bit.My mama used them all the time canning stuff when I was growing up.You just have to keep a good eye on them.

No, I use mine all of the time. They are nothing to be afraid of if you use it correctly. Mine has the jiggler built in and a steam release valve.

Yes, I am and would really like to use one but I remember being little......many years ago.....and the top flew off ours and went into the wall leaving a dent.....eeekkkkk.....be very afraid!!!!

Yep that is why I dont own one with my luck it would come flying off when i was looking at it and I would have a lid print in my face

If the equipment is new or serviced theres no need to worry ...

I'm more scared of my apartment building....
old cars I own.....and processed meats !!
