dvd rom only reads cds?

Question

my dvd rom will only read cds.
can anyone help please ?

are you sure it's a dvd drive?

It could be that's it's only a cd drive, if that's the case then you won't be able to play dvd's on it. Try going to your device manager to make use it's working correctly. If you've done all that, and it still does this, you could have a faulty drive. If that's the case, then get a new drive.

could be the drivers! try reinstalling the drivers! if trying to play a dvd, try installing the dvd player that came with dvd drivd or computer
