If we, as what is supposed to be one of the best nations in the world, cannot handle a black or a female president by now... then that is terribly sad. The we aren't so great.

We are still a nation of racists and women haters.. we are small minded and wrong. It is about time we started practising what we preach. The rest of the world is watching.

We have lost enough credibility in the last 8 years as it is.. it is time to break new ground and show the world and Americans that we are what we say we are.

The United States is prepared for a black president who considers himself an American far above any interest in his own skin color as compared to others. One of the worst legacies of slavery and discrimination is the ghettoizing of the black community to the point that large parts of the community itself is interested in seperatist reformation, instead of mutually beneficial integration.

Barack Obama doesn't want to be a Black President. He wants to be an American President. That explains why he has the best chance of any black candidate I've seen in my lifetime.

Let me ask you a question. Would anyone even be taking him a bit seriously if he didn't look more white than black? Could you run someone who was as black as they come straight from Nigeria? If you are 80% white and 20% black why are you even called black? His skin is as white as mine so why is he black and I'm white? Yes, since he is so white he would be acceptable but why isn't anyone talking about him being Muslim? Can we as a people handle that when we are the target of muslim hatred? That I'm a bit scared of that but they asked the same about John Kennedy. Can we as a people handle a Catholic president. I guess the answer was no since they killed him. God Bless

I can handle it, and would love to see it happen. I am assuming you are talking about Obama whom I have admired since he spoke at the Democratic convention.
The only issue I disagree with him on is his stand on illegal immigration. But I can kind of see why he feels the way he does. But if people would only see that the argument about illegal immigration is not racial(for most)but economical.
I am white, I like Obama, we need a change in this country. It's about time.

I have nothing against a black president. If it is the right person, I don't look at race, religion, or gender when I vote. I look at what they can do for me. Do they agree with me on enough issues? So while I would consider Senator Obama as one I could vote for I would not likely vote for Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson.

I think we most definetly could handle a black president.

I also think, however, that we should not vote for him because he is black. We should vote based soley on the issues. Thats it.
Now a woman president on the other hand:).....

I would really be surprised if people did let a "black" person run, many people are racist! I really dont mind. I would want a woman to be president. Maybe even a black woman!

Are you endorsing shooting and killing of white people by blacks?

Why don't people say it's wrong to kill each other, regardless of the color of ones skin, not say, "don't kill somoene of your own skin color, kill someone of a different one"?

regarding the comment above by "toadsto", I would vote for condi in a heartbeat!
