Ellow there everybody.

I have heard that, if you don't apply for a provisional licence before the end of this month (March) you'll have to wait untill your 21. Is this true? Because I know, over here, in England, you can apply for one when your 16. And I wish to get one. But I want to know, if this is going to happen now. Can you please provide me with some proof from the government or something.

Thank you.

This is a completely local issue... I can answer for my state, but I certainly cannot say how it is in other states or especially how it is in other countries like England.

In my state, that's not true. You can get a provisional license here at 15 and a half years old, so you can start lessons and driving with your parents, and you have to take a very expensive class for drivers ed. Then you can take your drivers test 6 months after that, so it would have to be after your 16th birthday... But that's not your only shot at it. you can get your temporary permit license any time and take the drivers test 6 months later. Once you reach 18, the rules change and you don't have to take the expensive class (I guess they figure you're responsible enough now that you don't need it).

I don't think that applying when you're 16 would be your only shot until you turn 21... that seems a little harsh. but I only know about my state... i hope that helps a little.
