A turbo charger is driven from the exhaust. It's most effective at high RPM. There fins inside the housing. [one side exhaust/one side air intake] When the exhaust gases pass the by the fin it spins the shaft upwards of 12 - 15,000 RPM. The air entering the turbo is then compressed before it is sent to the intake manifold.
A super charger [sometimes called a blower] is drive off a pulley on the crankshaft. Usually takes the place of the intake manifold. The super charger compresses the air prior to entering the engine & is most effective a higher RPM.
The only downside to a super charger is that it robs power to drive it.

A turbo charger is driven by the heat of the exhaust gases exiting the engine. A supercharger is driven by a belt from the front of the engine.
Some WW2 airplanes had both but not in cars. Usually one or the other.
The purpose of the device is to ram air into the intake of the engine thereby forcing much more into the cylinder than could normally be aspirated, thus increasing horsepower.

A turbo charger is a manifolded device with two internal turbines driven with exhaust gasses on one end and the opposite turbine draws atmospheric pressure in compressing it and the forced air enters the intake valves under pressure or what is known as pounds of boost measured with a normal pressure gage.

A supercharger is mounted on top of the engine and is mechanically driven by a huge timing belt. The belt is driven buy another pulley bolted to the crankshaft. The belt driven close fitting log rotors inside the supercharger pull in atmospheric air and compresses it to a manifold bolted to the intake ports of the cylinder heads. As the valves open pressurized air is mechanically forced in the combustion chambers when the intake valves open. The supercharger and crankshaft have interchangeable drive pulleys to alter pressure ratings.
