i have the same card as you but my a.g.p version is the nvidia 6600gt,but the principles are the same
right click the desktop and click nvidia control panel to enter the formentioned interface
in the control panel you can tinker with all the 3d settings such as resolution and refresh rate
i tend to use the resolution 1024x768 as with the 6600 this gives you the best optimal frame rates, but increasing to 1280x1024 will normally reduce the performance by around 10 to 20 frames per second
try to not use anti-antiliasing and antiostropic filtering as these only work well in very high end cards(geforce 8800gts/gtx/radeon x1950),but if you have to use them stick to the lowest setting(2 samples/x2)
updating your graphic card driver is allways a sure fire way to improve the cards performance, especially if you have been using the driver that came with the card, you can download the geforce forceware drivers at http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html
also installing the latest direct x runtime files(9.0c) will improve your gaming experience, direct x is a driver produced by microsoft that produces all the 3d effects seen in games, you can download the latest direct x from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en
allthough some users overclock their graphic cards to make them run better this is not recommended as it can permently damage your card by frying the core or memory
finally in breif, the best way to get the most acceleration from your card depends on the individual application or game, for example if your playing doom3 which takes alot out of your graphic card then the best way is to lower all the settings to "low" for the first time and then gradually increase them until you get a playable frame rate while keeping the visuals acceptable
some games have a "auto-detect" option built in which scans your p.c and then sets the video settings to the best possible settings
finally your refresh rates can make your games more playable, the higher the refresh rate the faster the screen will change images,on a 192 tft set at 1024x768 the highest refresh rate that will work is 80hz,and at 1280x1024 the refresh rate is 75hz,going higher than the recommended rates can damage your monitor
so if you update your graphics card with the drivers i have recommended and follow the other advice, your graphic card should run alot better
but remember that other factors affect the way your graphic card works such as processor speed and system memory,a good p.c should have a processor speed of 2ghz and above and ram of 1gb or above, and with the latest dual core technology becoming cheaper and faster its never been a better time to invest in a dual core p.c
any more advice mate let me know
good luck

Ahm... you're trying to do what?

If you're trying to get more FPS, right click your desktop, Nvidia Control Panel, then in the 3d settings page, slide it towards Performance.
If you mean overclocking, use

Watch out not to burn your card, only do it a little at a time.
Please clarify..
