I may have to be induced tomorrow but the thought of having to stay in hospital and wait to see if it works is not something I am looking forward too. if it doesnt work at all after 3 days I will have to have a cesarean which i dont want. How long after being induced do women generally get going !

I was induced for medical reasons a few months ago, and from the minute they started the pitocin drip, to the minute I was holding my son was exactly 7 hrs. It's different for everyone, but in general induced labors are faster.

There is a chance you might hear horror stories about labor induction, take them with a grain of salt, please, and don't be afraid. I was afraid because of these stories, and my labor was so beautiful, I would opt for induction again if necessary. One thing I can offer is consider an epidural if you feel you need one. The contractions are stronger from the sudden hormones they give you, but by no means unbearable. I found I was ready for one by the time I was 6cm, and thankful for it as it allowed me to rest up for the big push later!

Also, don't forget your pillow! You will be so glad you have it, as hospital pillows are not that comfy. Brings some snacks and entertainment too. Hubby and I watched a funny movie during the first part of my labor, to pass the time and take my mind of those icky contractions. You probably won't be allowed to eat during labor, but you'll be HUNGRY after, so snacks will be a Godsend.

Best of luck tomorrow, it will be the best experiance of your life. I promise.

I was induced at 10am and had my son by midnight. It wasn't bad at all. I walked the halls a bit and kept a sunny attitude. I went from 4 cm to 10cm and ready to push within ten minutes, so don't get discouraged if you hear you are at four and have a long way to go. You never know.

Don't dread the time at the hospital. Brind dvds/cds, books, have family there. It's actually the best because you are the center of attention for the last time in your life if you don't have any kids yet.

The thing is-you can't control this situation and every situation is different. Look forward to it and enjoy it. Labor was actually the most fantastic time. (I'm not kidding-but I did have an epidural!)

If you have a C-section, you have a C-section. There are worse things.

I wish you the best and good luck! Just remember to let the things go you cannot control. Whatever is supposed to happen, will!

Congratulations!

I was induced and was in labor for 19 horrible hours. It was my first child. I did not start dialating for 4 hours. If I had it to do all over again, and I was induced, I would ask the doctors that if nothing happened in the first two hours or so to stop the induction and let things happen naturally. My son was just not ready to be born, but the doctors were afraid he weighed more than 10 pounds, which he was only 8lb. 13oz.

I have some friends who have given birth within a few hours after being induced. I think it is best to listen to your body and it things aren't going the way you think they are, ask to do something different. Good Luck!

I was induced 4 times. Each child I had that day. First induction took 12 hours, second was 9, and the last 2 babies it was only 5 hours of labor. So it depends on how ready your body is and how many children you have had before. If you are getting pitocin they can start out slow but really begin to crank you up in the end.

Good luck!!

I was induced starting at 5:30 AM and my daughter was born that same day at 3:24 PM. So it can take as little as ten hours. I've heard of it taking much longer, but I don't think they will leave you in that kind of labor for three days. Surely you will have the baby or they will C-section it sooner than that!

It depends on what they use. It usually works within 12 hours. BUT, I have a friend who went in to be induced and it didn't work at all. She had to leave the hospital. She went into labor on her own the next day.. ended up with a c-section... If you don't have your baby in the next 3 days, why will you have a c-section?? I don't understand.

I was induced at 6pm and had my child at 11:11am the next day. I had no complications. I slept the whole time I was in labor - doc had to wake me up to have her! I had a friend, who was induced, and they had to do c-sec on her because the baby could not come out. Some women it works right away and for some it does not.

Being induced is a little rough because you're going from nothing to full blown labor. It's different for every woman, but can go very quickly or last a couple days. Good Luck!
