They are parents.. and as such, I supppose they look for the good in everything.. and try to feel proud.
But somehow, like you said, in his quiet moments with himself ,George Sr. must be a little ashamed. He himself was a good leader, even if he did have the little " read my lips" lie, generally he was good.
In the case of his son.. George Jr... has done nothing but lie and corrupt and invade and any number of stupid things. In his rush to try and outdo his father, he has become the worst president in the history of this country. Unfortunately that legacy is bound to brush off on the rest of the family.. that is too bad.

No, even if the elder Bush disagrees with his son's decisions, I doubt that he feels ashamed as a father in the least.
