You know you could have tried searching, but I guess someone who asks a question such as this doesn't have the intellect to complete such a task.

1000 Kilobytes = 1 MB (megabytes)
1000 Megabytes = 1 GB (gigabyte)
1000 Gigabytes = 1 TB (Terabyte)

'RAM' Means 'Random Access Memory'. This is the area where your computer does it's active processing. Most computers today come with 256 Megs of RAM as a minimum. Windows will actually work a faster if you put in more memory. My own opinion is that a computer should have at least 512 Megs of RAM. A Gig of RAM would be like having two 512 Meg RAM chips in. Each computer motherboard has a maximum amount that it can use without it losing processes. If you know what that specification is, you can actually make your computer work faster by adding as much as the computer specs will allow.

Remember, if your computer can only handle like 1 Gig of RAM and it has 2 slots for RAM, if you put a single 1 Gig chip into the first slot you cannot add anymore just becasue there is a second slot. So it is good to know what is the maximum allowed. Like the first person who answered, a Gig is 1,000 Megs of RAM.
