it was a Bush-41 trade initiative to boost trade with Canada & Mexico by easing trade restricitions with them.

i do NOT support NAFTA. i think that it has caused many jobs to slink south of the border where there are virtually no environmental protection laws. i also believe that it has made our major interstate thoroughfares more dangerous by letting more and more poorly inspected, unsafe trucks driven by truckers that didn't have to pass basic US safety and driver-knowledge tests to get their licenses.

I do not support NAFTA. My husbands job is a casualty of NAFTA. He worked for a world wide company who pulled all of their jobs from America and sent them to Reynosa, Mexico and Manaus, Brazil. He was a technical trainer so the "kicker" is that he went to both countries and trained those people to take his job.

Many companies are seeing how much cheaper labor is in Mexico and are jumping ship on their American employees. There are NAFTA TAA benefits "available" to retrain people in a different field, but as personal experience has shown, they are extremely hard to get and you have to jump through LOTS of hoops to get it. Also, you have to have the time to go to school to learn an new trade. This is very hard if you are married and have kids.

It is hard not to be a little resentful.

NAFTA become a socialist plot to degrade u . s . a . of america. It has led to agencies to circulate borders to low-fee hard artwork, unemployment, factories to close, an unhindered invasion of our u . s . a . via workers who will artwork for much less pay (taking jobs removed from prepared human beings), and the inflow of inexpensive products poorly made via close to-slave hard artwork. those low-fee products are inflicting American manufacturers to close down using fact the fee of hard artwork is so intense right here and that they are able to't compete with foreign places wholesale products. as far as low-experienced jobs go, those jobs have been to be taken via youthful green human beings to offer them slightly pocket money at the same time as gaining adventure and getting their guidance. childrens ought to start someplace yet NAFTA is meddling via making those jobs unavailable.
