I've watched a lot of 'scary' movies...The Ring, The Ring 2, The Grudge (which I found hillarious...), Friday the 13th, The Shining, IT, Carrie, Stay Alive, Darkness Falls, Saw (1 and 2, haven't seen 3 yet....not scary, but I like them a lot), The Blair Witch Project, The Exorcist (boring movie to me by the way...), The Others, The Amityville Horror remake, Hide and Seek, White Noise, and several others. None of them scared me. I liked a few, they interested me, but I want something that'll actually scare me, make me unable to sleep, etc...So what movie should I watch? I'm not talking about gore...gore isn't scary, it's just showing off how real they can make blood look. Zombies aren't scary either, and I'm not interested in them. If I'm not interested in something, how can it scare me at all? Anyway, I'm looking for something more psychological that'll freak me out. Please help?

Other movies I've watched: Candyman, Jaws, Silence of the Lambs, Signs, Alien, AVP...And no, I'm not really afraid of anything in real life too.

Thank you for all of your answers so far, I plan on checking out a couple of the suggestions.

it is a hard thing to find. i stil havent found one but there are ones that are different. Hills have eyes was ok it was a great move none the less. i liked the Saw movies because they had a good idea and saw 3 is a must see for the chain scene. some people thought hostel was scary but knowing what you described it is another patheticie. the only movie in the last few years to scare me was signs when the alien moved out of the bush. and that doesnt even do anything for me now either.

13 Ghosts. I don't really know if they exist but this movie will make you wonder. I am like you, it is hard for me to find a movie that freaks me out but this one kinda did. When I was a teen and baby sitting it was the origional Don't Answer the Phone. That one caused me and a friend to call the police that night. LOL Any movie that scary things are happening that could really happen in real life scare me more.

Hard Candy is psychological for sure, its extremely twisted and kind of leaves you thinking what the!? at the end of the movie, you just sit there and think well and...what happened to her. I cant really explain the movie or it will give the whole thing away, you might not like it at the beginning cuz its getting you into the movie, but its gets better, dont worry.
Also, try the Sentinal or Pet cemetary.

The old Exorcist is the only scary movie that I cannot watch alone. No matter how many times I watch it I still can't get used to it. I like the movie though, maybe because I like to be scared.

"The Hills Have Eyes", "The Descent", "Stir of Echoes" was OK, I have Saw I II and III and really don't remember any of them, but try "Saw III" I think I liked it. Maybe. I don't actually remember. But catch "The Hills Have Eyes II" when it comes out. "Hostel" scared my friend, but I didn't think it was that great. "Natural Born Killers" is one of my favorites, "Silent Hill" was not near as good as the game-"Silent Hill 2", which kept me playing when I was alone bc I was too scared to turn it off. If the visuals are what's turning you off, try a book. "Odd Thomas" by Dean Koontz is my favorite. And Stephen King's "Pet Semetary" and "Christine" are a lot better in your head. Oh, and "Pulse" is crap.

Japanese scary movies are BY FAR wayyy scarier than what we offer in the US. In particular this movied called "The Audition", or "Odishon" (I think that's the Japanese title). That's the creepiest movie I've ever seen. It contains gore, but it's so much more than that.

The Halloween movies. I can't watch them without having night terros for weeks. Even the theme freaks me out.
Also, It. I'm terrified of clowns. Probably cuz of that movie.
The Bad Seed. The kid has no concience. Actually, I think I babysat her...
