It really depends on what type of cuisine, budget and location you are searching for. Sans that information I'll tell you of a few places that I've enjoyed with dates, family and friends. If you add additional information I could recommend places that are more specific to your taste.
You can also go to Open Table's website for Atlanta and that would help you out a lot. You can search based on cuisine, location and price. It also has reviews, the top ten booked restaurants for Atlanta, links to the restaurants and you can make your reservations too.

I happen to love Anis Bistro and Cafe in Buckhead.
I've gone there with friends, family, and romantic dates. It's off of the beaten path so it's nice because Buckhead can be so chaotic. Their lamb shank was delightful. It's not the best restaurant in Atlanta but I've always enjoyed myself there. The setting is really pretty too.

Midtown has a lot of quaint little restaurants on and off of Crescent Ave.
South City Kitchen offers a tasty menu and it has a nice atmosphere. It's owned by a group that has several other restaurants that I have been to.
La Tavola, in the Virginia Highlands, is one of their restaurants. I like this place because it's an enjoyable menu and the out door eating is adjacent to a few other places that I would recommend.

If you're looking for chain restaurants then you will definitely find your fill. The other response mentioned Cheesecake Factory and, while I haven't been there, I assume it is fine because it seems to have a lot of volume. There is another chain that people rave about called Maggiano's. I personally did not enjoy it but I am one of the few to say that. It's very reasonably priced and they serve large portions. It's a big draw for some people.

There is an Italian restaurant, which may have a sister restaurant in the suburbs as well, called Fratelli Di Napoli, which is always busy and the food is consistently good. I would order the Rigatoni con Vodka and I was never disappointed. It's reasonably priced too and I've never heard of any complaints.

The Virginia Highlands has a lot of lovely little restaurants too. Fontaine's Oyster House is a great place to go with friends or on a date and the food is always easy. It's definitely a scene there but a lot of fun too.
Bones is a tremendous steakhouse. You won't be disappointed with the food assuming you enjoy steak. This may be a little more then you were expecting to pay but it is well worth it.

There are so many places to go in the area that you will definitely find something that you enjoy. If you add more detail I'll try and give you choices more suited to what you are looking for.
Enjoy and good luck with your restaurant search!
