I ask you... do you think you could pass a psych test after the state took away your child? I think i would be so worried all the time I would be bananas.

They took her away because of latin and math? Girls are not as good at math and latin is a dead language. This stinks on ice.

Are you people even reading my question? This is turning into a debate on homeschooling.

The question is simple: Can you pass a pysch test after the government has taken your child away for several months? This question is asking if the government is right or wrong. (I think they are wrong but that is besides the point)

that is absolutely infuriating. these governments want to tell people how to raise their kids. Amazing, where is the sympathy when the child turns bad and goes to jail?

If public and private school are not doing it what is wrong with homeschooling? Kate Bosworth was homeschool and she got into Yale!

I think the article is as biased as I have seen! This " ripped a 15-year-old homeschooler from her family and subjected her to a forced stay in a psychiatric hospital because she is home schooled, but also ordered her parents to be given psychiatric evaluations" is so bogus I suspect it isn't true!

Fifteen year-olds are not ripped from their parents for not being home schooled, though that certainly is neglect, and they are not put into mental institutions for that issue! Usually those that are have committed some crime that was heinous in nature are evaluated in a hospital setting, and if mentally ill, they will remain there only with an order of a court!

If a child is removed and parents given psychiatric evaluations, it is for DSM IV issues, not their state of being "bananas"! Even if you were, and not have an issue like a personality disorder, or some other mental issue, your tests would not be abnormal!

I spent 16 years investigating child abuse, and not once did I ever place a child in a psych hospital, nor remove them because they were "not" being home schooled! If a parent continues to not home school them then I would take some action!

Many children are home schooled, most legitimately, however there are always those few who use it as a mechanism to remove their child from any schooling! We aren't going to close our eyes and pretend it doesn't happen!

A child would never be removed because of Latin or math deficits! That is between the school district and the parent! It sounds as if this child was being homeschooled anyway!

I think you need to know the rest of the story! I can guarantee the one you cite isn't even close to accurate!

Trouble Maker - I respectfully disagree. Homeschooling is *awesome* as long as it's done properly. And homeschooling is HUGE up here - there are social clubs and sports groups set up *just* for homeschooled kids.

I would NEVER send my child to a public school. They have become *far* too liberal, and kids don't learn what they need to. How do I know? I work for a college and I *see* the "quality" of papers and exams these kids turn it. It's PATHETIC. Plus, I wouldn't want my kid exposed too all the little delinquents at a public school.

To begin with, this is a worldnet article,so about half of what's reported has probably been made up of whole cloth.

Secondly, why isn't this posted in Religion?

Third,I don't think many people really care what the Germans do about their wingnut Fundies.

I'm going to push past your statement that "girls are not as good at math", because it's so ridiculous that it doesn't deserve comment.

Whether a person could pass a psych test or not depends entirely on whether they are able to control (not suppress) their emotions, or whether they are out of control.

Anyone who home schools has a screw lose .
It does not provide the proper socialization skills needed to interact properly in society at a latter date .
This leaves kids social introverts not equipped to deal rationally with others .
I say any parent who is attempting to home school should have to pass a test to see if they are not in some way socially maladjusted people .
These people tend to become a threat to society as a whole later on in life .

I'd feel sorry for the fool that tried to take my children. My kids have been taught ow to use a rifle and a pistol and they can shoot very well.

This whole article sounded biased and crazy; I'm sure there's more to it than what is in that particular paper.
