Bad!
Cedric wasn't durable, and was a crybaby all season. He's not a locker room guy like Jones, nor does he have his work ethic.
Jones was the consummate warrior, and it won't suprise me if Adrian Peterson (Bears, not the incoming rookie) ends up as a starter at some point in the season.
Cedric put a whole lot of miles on in college, not unlike Ricky Williams.

LOL, you guys don't know jack squat about the Bears. This was a good move but we could have gotten the same thing in return had we given up a 4th round pick I'm pretty sure.
Anyways, Thomas has been wanting to get out since last season and he would have held out this upcoming season just like Briggs will. Even if we didn't trade him next year he would have been gone in Free Agency.
The duo of Benson and Jones was becoming too good of a combo that we had to trade it to get more value and fill holes. Now, we paid Cedric some big bucks to become our back of the future but with Thomas Jones we couldn't let him do it full time. Our backup Adrian Peterson isn't bad at all and could be a #2 on most of the NFL teams.
Thomas Jones was great for us in the past two seasons but both him and this franchise needed to move on.

As a Bears fan I think it was a good trade, Thomas Jones is just an average RB at best besides Cedric Benson is way faster and more physical than Thomas Jones. Jones is slow if you watch in the Super Bowl when he pulled off that 52 yarder he was dragging and the Colts' defense caught up to him and plus he's freaking ripped and he doesn't even run over defenders, I think it was a good trade the Bears might get a great player with the 37 Pick anyways Thomas Jones wasn't going to last in Chicago.

I think that this was a great deal ever for the Jets and a bad one for the Bears. Even though the Bears didn't win the Lombardi trophy, Thomas Jones was a key part of their offense they utilized when they won the NFC Championship. Yet Rex Grossman was an average QB that game, he is not dependable offensively. I think this was the worst trade for the Bears because they need a good QB and they don't have a good spot in the draft either. Somebody will need to step up on the offense side to get the job done.

The Bears have had a horrible offseason. I do not understand the reasoning behind this trade at all. Benson might be the future..... might. Meanwhile as shown by the Colts, Patriots, Broncos, Saints, BEARS(themselves), etc. the new trend in the NFL is to have two solid backs anyways.
They lose Rivera, almost put things in a bad situation with Lovie and now Briggs is threatening to sit out a season. Well the Bears are right on track to continue the poor fortune of recent super bowl losing teams.

Terrible! Jones was the offense in Chicago for 2 years. He ran for 1300 in 2005 when D's were stacked up against him while Kyle Orton was QB, and he busted out for what 11-1200 last year with the pressure of the organization wanting Benson #1. And had a ton of huge runs, like the 3rd and 22 vs the Giants on Sunday night football in November.

Very, very bad for the Bears at least. Jets fans should be laughing uproariously at the front office of the Bears. I mean, yes, Thomas Jones isn't a young'un, but still, he's not an old guy either, and he's a whole lot better than a lot of the free agent RBs out there.

On the surface it seems like a bad move to me. However, the Bears and the Steelers both seem to lose players when their contracts are up. Instead of getting nothing for Thomas Jones next year when he becomes a free agent or if they cut him to clear up cap space, trade him a year earlier and get something for him.
Do you think the Steelers should have traded Joey Porter last year for draft choices instead of just releasing him now?

It was the stuipest move ever made by the bears. When the bears would play him last season(they seemed to favor benson for some reason only they know) he could take over a game why would any team get rid of a guy like that.

BAD. Jones was their only consistent offensive threat last year. With their def. players returning from injury they could have stood pat and remained the odds on favorite to return, as a stronger team, to the super bowl. Maybe their plan is to use the extra second rounder on the fifth or sixth qb (lol). Might be an upgrade.
