1. I can't connect my ethernet cable to my modem because it is not the correct cable but have an ethernet port in the back of the computer...should it still work if i use the ethernet port in the computer?

2. Whenever i do use the back of the computer the ip adress always fails and i do it maually and automaticly #

First of all, do you have DSL or Cable? There should be an ethernet port on the back of the modem if you have DSL or Cable.

Second, the Ethernet port in the computer is used to connect the computer to the network. I don't think it can be used as a conduit to connect to the internet.

Ok if you want to make things simple for yourself just buy another cable that fits into your xbox and modem. Otherwise, read this:

1. Go to your network settings and make sure your ip settings for both your xbox and computer are set to auto.

2. Go to run from the start menu, then type in cmd. When a black window shows up, type ipconfig/refresh

you dont have to use THAT exact cable for xbox live..you can go to walmart and buy an extra cable for $15. mabey the one that you buy will fit into the DSL modem..or whatever your using
