if you are talking about the navigator, then its probably cuz in some areas you aren't getting an evdo service. and that is what the navigator runs off of.

What aspect of VZ Navigator are you talking about? If it's mapping, then it would be being out of EVDO range to download the appropriate maps. If it's your location on the map, then you've lost contact w/ the GPS network.

I've had both happen to me, where I go too far away from data network range to get map info, or I go into an urban area w/ lots of tall buildings that block my LOS with the GPS satellites just enough to get lost.

It is possible that your phone is set to get your location only when you dial 9-1-1. Look on the status bar at the top of your phone. If the icon looks like 4 arrows going in each direction , your phone is not enabled to get your location, and VZ Navigator will not be able to get your location you can change this via the settings of vznaviagator or Alternatively, you can log into the Location Management website from your PC. Go to https://www.vzwlocationmanagement.com/llspp to view and change your location privacy settings. You can also access this website via a link from Get It Now.
Hope this helps
