Oil on any rubber bushing can degrade the durometer (sp) rating ( test for hardness). If your alignment is OK and you feel the steering is working normally I'm voting don't mess with it. Be sure your tires are wearing normally. It's too bad car manufactures catch on to the fact that there are better bushings to be had.

petroleum based fluids can, and will harm certain rubber/neoprene ect type bushings, tires, hoses, ect. Most shops will tell you this, and some may offer to back up their claims to that effect. However, keep in mind this fact and try not to act too skeptical, as USUALLY the shop is only trying to present the facts to you, MOST shops try to deal in a reputable manner so as not to garner a 'bad' reputation, and to recieve your return business, I know I do, as well as the shops(most) in my area with which I have dealings with.

Short answer - Yes
Petroleum products deteriorate rubber. Neoprene rubber is resistant to oil products.
