I would have a pro look at the car that doesn't work for a car dealership, esp Chevy, and see what they think of it. You might want to consider both a body man and a mechanic. Bring your receipts for any upkeep and repairs, as well as any fun things you put in (stereo). They will be able to give you a pretty accurate idea of the car's value.

If the figures seem low, there are a few things you can consider.

Don't forget those push pull drag sales where they give you a good trade on any car with low resale...and you get a different car in the bargain.

Sometimes you can part the car out and get more than when it is all one piece.

Sometimes the car is worth more as scrap metal than as an actual vehicle...sorry if I am talking about "your baby" this way. Of course you would remove anything of value...stereo system, rims, and other cosmetic doohickeys, and just get as much for the weight of the car.

You'll be lucky to get $500-800. The Cavaliers have poor reputations with reliability and your car is 10 years old.

We traded ours in and got 800 for it from a dealer, which means they would sell it for maybe 3... but since your a private seller you naturally have to go lower, I would say you could get maybe 2 for it.

you can check the kelly blue book value online, but i don't think you'll be able to get the total of what you have in it. cavaliers aren't real expensive new so the resell isn't real high. good luck.

If I were you, I'd try to get $4000 for it. Some people may say that's high... but if you ask 4000 maybe you could get 3500. Good luck.
