i want to study to become a pharmacy technician and/or learn medical billing and coding but i dont want to waste my time with a school that employers laugh at. i work full time and have 2 kids so online school is the only way to go. anyone have any experience or knowledge on this?

There are the "big 3" online schools known in medical transciption circles. If you graduate from one of them you are pretty much gauranteed an at-home job from one of the big employer like Spheris. At the time that I went, they also offered medical billing/coding but I don't know how if the jobs are as plentiful for that area.

*MAYBE you should try reading the question, she didn't ask for "medical shools" as in becoming a doctor, she asked for online schools for medical billing and coding, of which there are many. TY.

I know many people who go to school (on campus), work full time and raise kids. Where there's a will there's a way. And so many school's these days have very flexible schedules - including evenings and weekends. It's not a medical school you are looking for. I was very worried when I saw that...I would hope people would never consider an actual online medical school on their way to becoming a physician. That's scary. Okay, that out of the way...I think that many employers are still not comfortable with degrees from a totally online school. However, most technical schools, community colleges, even universitiies offer many classes online. Try that instead of a strictly online school.

Kristine had a great answer.

The person who asked the question should really edit her question. At first, I really thought you were one of those crazy people who actually thought there could be a legit medical school to become a MD. There's a huge difference btw medical billing/coding and a real doctor. One's just an AA degree which you can do in a year or two and the other requires getting a full bachelors, then a doctorate, and then at least 3 more years of hands on training.

There's no such thing as on line medical school, because in order to anyone to study medicine he or she must have hands on
experience by practice what they study.

I don't know but I know where you can get a reliable answer. Ask your pharmacist.
