Anybody watch that today? I was shocked by his remarks when talking about "the Indian casino" - they were really in bad taste and racist in my opinion esp. when he started singing "one little, two little, three little Indians." From experience, I know that on North American television it's normally acceptable to make derogatory remarks about Native Americans, but this was ridiculous! I wonder how well this would have been received if it were about African Americans or another race? I am truly disappointed in him. He kept mentioning the fact that he's Jewish as if that's supposed to give him carte blanche or something. Does he think b/c he's Jewish that no one can accuse him of being a racist? Give me a break! I hope ppl call him on this b/c he's clearly ignorant about Native American issues.

To Carrie: why are you using the term "them" as if all Native Americans are tucked away out of sight on Reservations - how do you know that I am not Native myself? You also do not have to be a certain race to be offended by racist remarks towards that race.

I don't watch this show. It hurts to hear that people in the media are still getting away with this crap. And especially a Jewish man and a Lesbian woman, they should know about oppression, they should support education and tolerance.
I remember when Outkast came out with the song "Hey Ya". They had woman on the Award show dress up as Natives in green bucksin with green teepees. The song is racist, saying hey ya, hey ya. The Native community made a big deal about it, rightly so. Outkast never apologized. The community just lets it happen. Sadly so many people believe Natives are extinct or going extinct so this kind of racism doesn't matter. Or they just aren't educated enough to know the difference. In my opinion, we should not allow media representation of racism. We shouldn't pay billions of dollars to celebs. who support more ignorance and hatred in our country.
To Respond to some users comments:
Spreading cultural ignorance, especially in the media, is racism.
Just because we have freedom of speach doesn't mean we should excercise it to demean a whole race of people.
Racism and political correctness are not one in the same. If someone talks bad or ignorantlly about a group of people that is racism. If they accidentally refer to a group of people by the wrong term that is a case of political correctness.
Just because someone is a comedian doesn't mean they have the right to spread cultural ignornace. If the population he was speaking to was mostly people of color who understood his comments as false and thus got the joke then it Might be a different story. And it is Very correct to think that this would Not be accepted for any other race.
I am a Native woman.
I know that singing One little, two little, three little Indians is Racist, period!
There's a Native comedian. He does this bit:
He walks onto stage and he sings:
One little, two little, three little Whities.. four little, five little, six little Whities. Then he stops and says "Oh what? You don't f*cking like it either?".
Makes the point clear I would say.

How is the world going mad? What makes it 'right' for a man and a woman to love each other, but wrong for a two men or two women to love each other? It's not like every time two people of the same sex fall in love, somebody dies or another polar ice-cap melts, there is nothing bad about same-sex couples. So stop trying to cause a controversy and think about how you would feel if everybody started telling you that you couldn't marry the person you loved. Gay people have every right to get married.

There is no denying the the Native American Community has been crapped on. It sucks and my heart goes out to them all. I am going to have to say after watching that we all collectively need to STOP being so sensitive. There are things done in bad taste and then there are racist remarks. People misspeak all the time, but we need to learn what context is and what the intention of the speaker is when things are said instead of jumping to conclusions everytime someone of one race says something about someone of a different race.
What Brad said was offensive, BUT in the context that he is on a talk show, he is a comedian AND its absolutely clear that he meant no malice to Native Americans and he had the intention of making people laugh.
Should he have done it? No, it was in bad taste. Is he some kind of cross burning, racial slur spewing, racist? No, he was just misguided and maybe one of his "peeps" will pull him aside and tell him to chill with the Indian casino jokes on TV.
I agree with you on the point that if he said the N-Word or made a joke about hispanics, it would be a totally different story in the public's eyes.

Enough of the PC crap. That's going to be the down fall of this country. We all have to love and kiss each other and we can't remotely say anything negative about anybody else or we are racist.
The guy is a comedian. Let him do his job of making fun of things and making people laugh.
