Cops can't break in without a warrant- why on this show do they let doctors?

Don't get me wrong, I love the show, but it really irks me to see them break in to look for "clues" to solve the medical mystery. No way would they be allowed to do that in real life.

Like the episode with the kid that was a "gypsie" and he gave them the fake address. Sure, he gave them permission and told them that was his house, but he was a minor. A minor cannot give the police or anyone permission to search their parents' home.

He is an eccentric, that makes his character more interesting to watch than all the other doctors on TV. If he was smart enough to get thru medical school, he is smart enough to figure out some way to do this.
If a cop catches him he gives them a prescription for oxycontin & they let him off with a warning.

The cops broke into my father-in-laws house after my husband step-sister lied and told them they locked her in her room, and beat her up one day.
There wasn't even a DOOR . What an idiot.
And He was in Texas the day she claimed he beat her, and has alibis....he was in a business meeting (he owns his own company).
Anways, the local police knocked the door down, breaking it, tore up the house, ripped stuff up, and left.
And they refuse to pay for ANYTHING even after they learned the kid (well, 13 years old is a child still...I'm 20) lied and admitted to it.

Yes, I love that show. Since a little thing called "theatrical license." Also, many things are forgiven of an imperfect savior. Would you sue Dr. House if he saved your life? I wouldn't.
