I am 33 weeks, and at my doctor's visit today I noticed that I have only gained 0.1 lbs since my last visit (3 wks ago). The doctor didn't seem too concerned, but I realized after I left that if the baby is supposed to gain about 1/2 lb a week at this point, then I would have actually lost weight while she gained it. I know weight gain can slow down towards the end, but is that normal? I am still measuring right on (33 cm at 33 wks). The doctor also told me that I really shouldn't gain much more weight, which was odd because I thought I should still be gaining about a pound a week. I've gained 35.7 lbs, but I started out a little bit underweight. Not gaining any more would be fine with me, but I'm afraid the baby is going to be too small. Is this normal? How much weight did you gain the last 6-7 weeks of pregnancy?

I am at 36 weeks right now, and for the two weeks before this I had actually lost weight. My doc said not too worry because I was still measuring 34 weeks which was right where I was suppose to be at that time. Now today I went in and gained 3lbs and I am actually measuring 37 almost 38 weeks. It is normal to fluctuate a little. Also, take into consideration on whether or not you go to the doctor before or after lunch and what you are wearing. I have noticed eating before hand vs. not eating before hand has made a difference in my weight.
My book also says that you should be gaining about a 1lb a week from here on out, but it is also normal to level off over the next couple weeks. Don't sweat it unless your doctor does, there are way too many things we already worry about.

I am the same way. I am 37 weeks today and I haven't gained anything for 5 weeks now. Everyone is different, but my doctor is not concerned either. The way they say you should gain weight is just a guideline. Sometimes you gain more throughout the pregnancy and then it evens itself out in the end (which I suspect is how it is in our case), or sometimes you gain alot at the very end. But as long as you gain between 25-35 pounds, how and when you gain it is different for everyone. I do know alot of women who did gain alot in the end, so I was concerned that I would too and that I would end up gaining more than I wanted to, but it is evening itself out now. As long as the doctor is okay with it, you will be fine. My doctor told me that back in England they used to tell women that you shouldn't gain more than 20 pounds when pregnant and if they gained more than that they would actually be hospitalized. Crazy, eh? You will lose 17 pounds as soon as you have the baby, so 20 pounds is definately not enough.
Anyway dont worry too much. The OB told me that the baby will take everything it needs before you even feel the effects of not eating enough. So before you even feel tired or sluggish or have any other symptoms of not getting enough nourishment yourself, your baby has already got what it needs.
Good Luck!

I think that the baby is probably taking more calories from you and that is why there is no weight gain... while the baby is gaining, you, personally, are not. I wouldnt be concerned. If the doctor is on top of the whole thing, you should be fine. 35 lbs gained already is probalby at the top of what he would want you to gain anyway, and your body is probably just giving more to the baby ....

i actually lost 2lbs at the end with my first. it is normal, my mom lost with every one of her 4 kids. i have been measuring small like 2/3 weeks behind and went to the dr monday and only gained about 1.5lbs but now measuring right at 34 weeks (weird). as long as your not losing to much and your dr didn't seem concerned i wouldn't worry about-it happens to a lot of people.

I'm sure you're fine. 35 lbs sounds like a good amount to gain during your pg. Don't "diet", but your body will gain weight the way it needs to. I'm sure your baby will be fine.

That is sooooo normal for some reason that happens to many women. It happened to my friends ( not with me because I delivered 5 weeks early) my sis in law. It is normal so do not be alarmed
