WOW, THIS GUY ABOVE ME PUT DUKE! THEY WOULD BE LUCKY TO BE IN THE TOP 25 IN TALENT RIGHT NOW.......mcroberts is terrible (wont step foot in the nba). greg paulus is weak. nelson and henderson will be good. sheyer is a good shooter. that is 3 players and you want to put them in the top 5? and your a college basketball expert? wow

absolutely positively not!! I am a huge fan of tennessee (graduated from there), but they may not even be in the top 20 in talent alone. they have a top 5 player in chris lofton, but they need 2 more good recruiting classes or an unreal one next year to be considered top 5 talent. in 2000 when they went to the sweet sixteen they probably had more talent than anybody. that team was WAY better than this team, but bruce pearl is a much better coach, so that makes them more dangerous.

without chris lofton, they wouldnt have won 15 games this year. lofton is great and they have good guard play, but they dont have much of an inside game. chism and crews are good but they are the biggest players at 6'7" and 6'9". this team is a BIG TIME overachiever and to say they are even close to top 5 talent is crazy.........here are some teams that for sure have more talent then tennessee............

kansas
florida
UNC
ohio state
ucla
wisconsin
georgetown
memphis
texas a&m
texas
kentucky (sad to say but it is true)
Lousville
villanova
arizona

these teams are at least equal:

virginia
virginia tech
boston college
oregon
washington state
vanderbilt
pittsburgh
southern illinois
UCONN (the most talented team to ever miss the tourney)

i could go on, but the point is, tennessee needs one more great recruiting class to be a contender, with lofton coming back as a senior next year (the only player they lose is dane bradshaw who is replaceable). if they get a true center, another good post player, and a couple good small forwards/athletes, they could be incredible next year. but there is no way you could consider them top 5 in talent this year.

anyways, GOOOOOOOOO VOLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSS

i dont think they will beat ohio state this time around, but they can definitely play them to the wire if they make it that far. we had the game won in columbus this year if lofton would have made his free throws. lets hope for a miracle as osu is much better now!

Texas, Ohio State, Florida, Georgetown, Kansas, etc.
Tennessee doesn't even get past Long Beach State in the tournament
Where does this question come from or source??
Is there recruiting class from last year good enough in your opinion to put them in the top 5? Talent and Coaching wins game. Tennessee already has a good coach but they are a 5 seed, so what does that say about their talent??Put them on the same level as Duke if you want (take it as you will)

I'm shocked that a TC would say UConn has talent. I am a Tennessee grad in grad school at UConn now and that team has been a flopping, dying, drama-ridden fish all year long. Talent my ***.

Give this Tennessee crew some time. See what ELSE they do in this tournament. See who returns next year (Should be all but Dane Bradshaw). See what Pearl brings in next year.

I think some of you people who are still chirping the ESPNU Chorus of UNC/Florida/OhioState/UNC/FLorida/OHiostate as being the best teams OMG like ever may have to change tunes.

Go vols. Period. PERIOD.

Not even close. Thier most talented team member is Coach Pearl. That guy can flat out motivate and get more out of his players than even themselves believe they are capable of. Go Big Orange (Loudon, TN)
