Ok guys thanks for your answers but problem has now been solved. It wasn't my network after all.....it belonged to next door neighbour. I have informed him to secure his own connection.

Using any computer attatched to your BT Home Hub (wired or wireless), go into internet explorer and type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Look through the pages you get until you find Wireless or Security or something similar. You now have to set up a WPA-PSK - the reason I say this is that WEP is unsecure and can very easily be cracked. Next, you must come up with a WPA key - the best way to do this is to go to https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm which will generate perfectly secure pseudo-random keys which will be unique to you. Simply click the link, then copy and paste the key given under the heading of "63 random printable ASCII characters" (the middle one). Paste this key into Word or Notepad and print out a couple of copies, and don't lose them.

Go back to your Wireless Security settings page on you BT Home Hub - after selecting WPA (or WPA-PSK) then paste the key into it. Apply and save the settings (there will probably be a button on the settings page that says "Apply".) As soon as you do this, any PC connected wirelessly to the hub will lose its connection. Don't panic, this is supposed to happen.

Next you have to set up your PC(s) to connect to the hub again, so - assuming Windows XP - goto Start>Connect to>Show all connections. Find the icon representing the wireless connection, right click it and choose "View Available Wireless Networks". On the pane to the left of the window that appears, choose "Change advanced settings." In the window that appears, choose the "Wireless Networks" tab. Half way down the window, in the "Preferred Networks" frame, find your Hub in the white box. Click on it and hit the properties button. Now in the new window that appears, choose "WPA-PSK" for the Network Authentication. Then paste your key into the "Network Key" and "Confirm Network Key" text boxes. Hit OK. Then hit OK on the "Wireless Network Connection Properties" window. Back in the "Network Connections" window (which you brought up from the Start menu), again right click the wireless network and click "View Available Wireless Networks". Find your BT Wireless Hub in the window that appears and make sure the status is "Connected". If it isn't then click "Connect". You will need to do this for all PCs you want to connect to the hub, but you must only setup the Hub once (that is the page you brought up with 192.168.1.1). And you must use the same WPA key you printed out earlier on all PCs.

This should get your wireless connection secured, but remember that it is only secure if you know exactly what you are doing. I highly reccomend you download and listen to "Security Now! Podcast", which you can subscribe to via the Apple Music Store for FREE or download for FREE from http://www.grc.com/SecurityNow.htm. It is only a suggestion, but it would greatly increase your knowledge on security and therefore increase your security. Just a friendly suggestion.

I also recommend that if you choose to use my answer that you print it out before you start because you will temporarily lose your connection when securing it.

CONNECT YOUR WIRELESS ROUTER WITH A PATCH CORD TO YOUR PC AND THEN TYPE 192.168.1.1 OR GO INTO THE WIRELESS ROUTER SETTINGS AND ASSIGN A NETWORK KEY TO YOUR ROUTER .
UNSECURES NETWORK SIMPLY MEANS THE WIFI ROUTER THAT YOU ARE CURRENTLY CONNECTED TO DOES NOT HAVE A NETWORK BY WHICH THIS MEANS THAT ANYBODY WITH A LAPTOP CLOSE TO THE RANGE OF THE WIRELESS ROUTER CAN ACCESS THE INTERNET THROUGH YOUR WIRELESS ROUTER
BEST OPTION IS ASSIGNING NETWORK KEY TO THE ROUTER ,FOR HELP ON THIS SEE THE DOCUMENTATION OF THE ROUTER .
