Some of St. Louis' colorful ethnic neighborhoods serve as excellent starting points to please the palate.
The neighborhood known as "The Hill" is the place where baseball legend Joe Garagiola grew up (right down the street from Yogi Berra), and it is still largely populated by descendants of the Italian immigrants who began settling in St. Louis in 1857. The lawns are well manicured, the community is close knit and the food is world class. Cunetto House of Pasta is my favorite.
When Germans immigrants came to St. Louis, they brought with them Wiener schnitzel and generations of experience brewing beer. For a taste of outstanding German cuisine and Old World charm, St. Louisans head to Bevo Mill, a local landmark. You can't miss it: just look for the turn-of-the-century Dutch windmill that adorns the facade. Schneithorst's, a St. Louis mainstay, offers traditional German favorites ranging from saurbraten to potato pancakes, and also serves up dozens of specialty beers on tap.
Downtown St. Louis offers an exciting and eclectic mix of dining choices. If you're in the mood for French fare, head for the elegant, yet comfortable ambience of Cafe de France. Faust's serves inventively prepared wild boar and venison as well as a fabulous Sunday brunch. For a breathtaking view of downtown St. Louis you can't beat Harry's Restaurant & Bar, a favorite stop for business professionals.
Crown Candy Kitchen, in business since 1913, is an old-fashioned soda fountain, complete with chili dogs and shakes so thick you could eat them with a spoon. Some St. Louisans say they won't go anywhere except Citizen Kane's for a steak, while Blueberry Hill, where native son Chuck Berry still performs his rock and roll standards on occasion, is a hot spot for burgers, beer and live music.
Zhivago's in Ballwin offers fine Russian fare in an elegant setting, plus an impressive 15 varieties of vodka.
In the mid-county town of Clayton, which essentially bleeds over into St. Louis, you can make business deals at the fresh, upscale Cardwell's or sidle up to the salsa bar at Zuzu's Handmade Mexican Restaurant and enjoy some genuine south-of-the-border dining. If you are a garlic lover, on the other hand, try Saleem's, a Lebanese eatery in nearby University City.

In the loop it would have to be "Riddles Penultimate Cafe and wine bar" all recipes incorporate Missouri and Illinois meats and vegetables, the menu changes every so often based on what the chef decides, plus the prices arent as expensive as people may think.
Its comparable in price to a good steak house, but a heck of a lot less expensive than Ruths or Porters steak house.

if you like mexican go to chimichanga's on S. Grand. Awesome food and cheap, I got a whole meal and a couple corona's for $10.
Houlihan's is really awesome too. If you go to happy hour they have half price appetizers (which can easily be a meal) and cheap drinks.
For diner food you want to go to Tiffany's diner on Manchester. or Courtesy diner on Hampton.
Psghetti's in s. county
There's chinese place on the corner of Delmar and 170. I think it's called Guo Bin. It's on the bottom floor of a senior apartment building. Best Chinese in st. louis. Dinner for two is $20 and you get a big plate.
Mama's deli on Jameson has great sandwiches.
All you can eat pizza at cici's is $3.99 not the best, but it's worth $3.99
But when it comes to food, there is really only one choice: Lion's Choice ! hahaha.......... no, for real, lion's choice is awesome.
