I'm still looking for a wedding gift for my soon-to-be and love the looks of a Stuhrling divers watch...but he's not a diver. Would this be a bad decision?

There is nothing wrong with that at all. I have a chronograph that I've never actually used the chronograph function for before. I have a moon phase that I never actually set to the moon.

The only thing to consider is that a dive watch is not very "formal" so if he needs a watch a to dress up, this probably won't be one.

Divers watches are pretty and, well, usually waterproof, so they're practical too. I had one when I was a swimmer, and I don't think it's tacky to wear one when you're not a diver.

They wouldn't be making Chanel and Cartier diving watches if they were tacky or only for divers. I like large watches, and do wear men's watches, and most of them are
"diving" watches, and one thing I'll never be found doing is diving.

No; it is basically the same deal when the preps wear Etnies or DCs. It will piss the divers off, maybe, but if it is your own personal sense of style, let it out! You can't hold things like that in!
