The word racism is being over used by people, and therefore, spread too thin so to speak. People say some individual or some company is being racist if they get fired from their job (for stealing or always being late or absent, etc.). They yell racism if they don't get hired for a job (too bad they weren't qualified for the job). I got kicked out of my apartment - they are racist - too bad you didn't pay your rent for four months even after being warned. Just fall back on the good old racist explanation. This happened or that happened because of a person's race, and a lot of times it is true sad to say but because it's been overused in non-sensical situations, when it really happens, who listens or believes? Like crying wolf too many times. The way I feel is that you can be any color and still be stupid, ignorant, a bad driver, get in trouble................. Take responsibility for your own actions and do not fall back on your color. If you did something dumb, you did something dumb. Admit it.
To CuriousL - FYI - Spell check is on Answers. Also, I don't consider it racist if you are making less than someone else. No offense, but you may think you work hard but the management may not. That happens all the time. It's called poor mangement. They don't have a set pay scale that they follow. It's not right but not racist.

I certainly have worked in business relatives for some years. i become a commerce Union genuine for the final 15 years of my working existence, and become a countrywide equalities representative specialising in discrimination regulation for the 2d greatest commerce union in Europe. In my latter years, I additionally worked as a representative for a extensive employer on anti-discrimation coverage. Your question is appealing in that it reflects such a good number of straightforward labels, that forestall us from addressing the actual problem. Racism (like all different style of bullying) is made complicated via terminology. some persons are 'realists' some persons are 'liberals'... at the same time as yet others are 'progressives' (despite the fact that which potential). Racism is rather common. in case you have confidence that folk are 'lesser', 'no longer as efficient'... or 'unworthy' in any favourite know using their epidermis shade, nationality or race... you're a racist. in case you have confidence that human beings are basically equivalent, inspite of commencing place, social background or affiliation... you're no longer racist. 'Racist' has become a meaningless accusation... yet that would not make the term meaningless. 'Politically spectacular' is likewise a meaningless term. It only potential 'something we don't consider'. This has lost which potential using fact this is unique which potential become no extra effective than common politeness. It wasn't the political definition this is critics have made it. Any argument is easily made polarised via simplistic terminology and incomplete be attentive to-how. we are all undertaking to that manipulation. particular... those words have lost their meanings. this is with the help of the fact human society nonetheless behaves precisely like chimpanzee society. How ironic.

The term racist has lost all meaning as it now seems to be applied to anybody making a negative statement about any ethnic group. As a result, it is no longer possible to have a meaningful discusion about many relevant topics for fear of being branded as racist.
It does seem that the term 'racist' is only ever applied to white Europeans.
There is a very real danger that this situation will only deteriorate. I know many people who are completely sick of having this race issue rammed down our throats by the government and media.
People should be treated as individuals. Their race, colour, creed, religion, ethnic background or sexual orientation is irrelevant. It should be possible to discuss any subject without fear of being called racist or sexist or homophobic or biggoted simply because you disagree with the viewpoint dictated to us by the government.
Rant over, for now.....

Yes I completely agree with you. I'm fed up of people playing the 'racism' card, particularly when they are too bone idle to consider the facts of a situation!
Like recently, I shouted at a guy because he was endangering other road users with his driving. Apparently I was being racist (so he told me) because he just happened to be a different colour to me. All I said was 'What the hell are you doing'! How is this racist?

your a 100% correct, racism in the dictionary should be changed to "offending somebody of a different race"
yahoo answers is a good example of this, people ask a question about black people and get lots of answers complaining of racism, its pathetic it really is.

I agree, people of a different race (im not pointing any fingers!!) hide behind the word racism. Its pathetic but its been allowed for many years. They play on it, effectively, giving other people, the same race as themselves. a bad name.

No, it hasn't been lost...its been diluted and people are attempting to make seem like it doesn't exist but it does...It's very hard to detect but its obvious if you look at the big picture....
example...I work for a big company and Ive been working there for over 10 years, I asked a few of my co-workers, whom been there shorter time, and guess what?? They are making over a dollar per hour more than me and guess what race they are and mine? is the not racism?
I work hard and I know I work harder then a couple of people that i asked but does that matter??? No...well, thats racism.....and there are many examples i can give you but you really have to be live it to be able to experience....
Sorry about my typoes but this computer doesnt have spell check and I don't have time to be checking my writing...

In fact, when you try to ignore someone of another race, or treat them a bit harshly, which is more down to their own personality than down to their race - or rather; 'nationality' - you're being classified as a 'racist'.

all races are racist...it is perfectly natural...its in our DNA. the real question is one of tolerance and this country is, in my opinion, the greatest experiment in tolerance to date, but it has become politically correct to disabuse anyone of the right to voice dislike or distrust of any person of any race, except the white man of course, he is fair game for all.
