I live in Mississippi, work in Memphis.

1. The transportation system is terrible. It starts with the roads. The drivers are rude and terrible. There are so many trucks here (mostly because of FedEx). There are times that I'm driving 30mph on the highway because of all the traffic. During rush hour it's unbearable.

2. There are tons of hospitals here and from what I've seen they have some terrific facilities.

3. I really don't want to get into the politics in this city. I mostly disagree with everything they do. The city's #1 problem is crime. Carjackings, homocides, burglaries, etc. This really isn't a pleasant town. And the Mayor apparently could care less about it, because he's not doing anything about it.

We tried to order pizza a few weeks ago at work, and Domino's told us they would not deliver it because it's too dangerous. Unbelievable.

4. Not really a whole lot to do here. I personally spend a lot of time at the Casinos in Tunica Mississippi. Beale st. is popular too.

Try google earth and you can find the school you will attend and see the near by housing, the parks and how close it is to downtown.You could yahoo or google the town and see what their web site has to say. The schools web site may have an chat room where you can talk with other students and get reliable answers to your questions and maybe make a friend or two before you get there.
