Hi there,
I'm a week shy of being 7 months and i had wanted to repaint a room for the baby. It's not very big, but i know there are problems with fumes from the paint and such. i'm just wondering if it's okay for me to paint if i wear a mask and have the windows open. I wanted to be able to help my husband but wasn't sure if it was safe. Thanks.

The type of paints you want to use are called low-VOC (volatile organic compound). They give off far less chemicals than regular paints. As an added bonus, they have almost no odor.

If I had a dollar for every inch of wall I've painted while pregnant, I could quit my job! While pregnant with my 3rd, I painted literally every wall in the house (I was feeling very creative.) This time, I've painted on five different occasions.
**The trick is to not use oil-based paint -- use some kind of latex paint, which is going to be what's most widely available anyway. It doesn't have fumes.

More importantly, be careful on ladders & stepping stools and if you get dizzy from lifting your arms over your head so much, stop & rest a while. Just listen to your body; you'll be fine.

I was 7 months pregnant also when we moved in a new house, I paint almost the whole house my hubby was working . The paint they have now is not toxic (this is what they say). However make sure you paint with open windows and ventilation, make breaks often. Just to make sure. And drink plenty of milk,it is not only calcium, but also it neutralizes any toxicity.

There are new water-based paints that have no harmful fumes.
If you are using latex paint, you shouldn't even be in the house when your husband is painting. In that case, stay away for 2 days.

With the windows open you should be ok. You may also want to look into organic paints. I think Sherwin Williams carries them.
