It was just too early to detect the heartbeat with a doppler, Ive heard earlier if it is through and ultrasound. At 6 weeks your baby is what like the size of a pea(just imagine how small that is!!!). At my second appt I was about 8 weeks and it was still too early to hear the heartbeat. Now if I dont hear it at my appt this friday(almost 12 weeks) then I will start to freak.

Sounds like the doctor just had a hard time finding the heart beat this early. It actually is pretty common. They will call you to do another ultrasound in the next couple weeks and that should give them a better idea of the heartbeat. Try to stay calm and relax. Stress is tough on a little growing baby. Good luck!

I have 3 kids and none of them picked up on the doppler at 6 weeks. As a matter of fact, for my youngest child, we didn't pick it up until the 3rd month, and not again until the 5th month because she flipped around so much. I knew she was okay because the child was constantly moving (and is the same way to this day). So don't freak out just yet. Go for your ultrasound and see what they say. Also fyi - they probably won't be able to tell the sex of the baby until you are about 18-20 weeks. Sometimes they can pick it up earlier....

If your doctor is using a doppler it may have not picked it up yet. I heard the heartbeat at 10 weeks, my doctor wouldn't even try before then. So I would say it is not uncommon. The ultrasound should definitely pick up the heartbeat so I wouldn't worry. Obviously, they think you are still pregnant because they have scheduled it. Also, your doctor didn't seemed concerned I am assuming, so I would just relaxe.

Sounds like you had a scan from what you said. It should have picked up a heartbeat. The doppler usually wont pick up a heartbeat until 12 weeks, sometimes later. Wait until the next scan, and hopefully your baby is alright.

using an ultrasound you are able to detect a heartbeat at 6 weeks.
mommy to liam said it right on the nose!

if your concern about a miscarriage ask for an ultrasound or even check your HCG blood levels. If they are still doubling then your still pregnant.

It depends...are you trying to listen with a doppler or an ultrasound. If its with a doppler then you can't hear it till about 12 weeks. If its with a vaginal u/s tehn you may have a problem. It could be a blighted ovum...where sperm and egg have met but not developed.

Gosh, 6 weeks is too early to hear anything but a lot of gas. Don't worry, it's not healthy for your new baby. Go to your appointment and tells us the good news when you get back. Congratulations.

Doctor's didn't hear my kids until about 12 weeks. Don't stress yourself out from worrying, because most people don't even know they're pregnant at 6wks6days.
