I would like to do some research on legal options involving child custody. Is there somewhere I can read summaries and judgements in similar cases?

Some court websites put up recently decided opinions, if you are looking for that.

A good free website is www.findlaw.com for court opinions and other legal information.

I am presuming you mean FREE, in which case the previous Findlaw and Cornell law school sites are minimally OK.
The Supreme Court has a website as well.
However, these aren't going to be very useful unless you are talking about landmark cases. Remember, each state has its own set of statutes, and while there may be some similarities, there are substantial differences.
The best and most comprehensive sites are Lexis and Westlaw, but these are not free. Your local law library may provide you with some limited free access, it's worth checking out.

It depends on the state. Some state have court opinions online, some don't.

As a general starting point, try one of the legal resource sites, like FindLaw (www.findlaw.com)

Try the Cornell Law School web site www.law.cornell.edu
They have the opinions, dissents, and the syllabus for current and historical cases.
