They just don't want the rest of the world to think that they're still like that. You have to understand that hanging women and all that crud is considered right for them, even today (which is just plain wrong, but who am I to judge?), while the whole savage thing doesn't work for them anymore and they want to leave that in the past. It's biased and unfair, but that's world politics for you.

Though they also got upset about the film Alexander. Which was about the Romans I think and how they conquered the land, which included the persians.

Because this coming from the same country that spearheaded the whole muslim cartoon outrage. Seriously, if you say something under your breath about Ahmindinajad (sorry if I misspelled that) you will get your house firebombed. Any criticism of Islam or the nation of Iran will get you killed.
