Last year, I went to a fancy dress party, dressed as a St. Trinians schoolgirl, using clothes that I got from a charity shop. Unfortunately, the (British) size 8 court shoes, with a 2 and a half inch stiletto heel that I wore - which were a correct fit and comfortable - were impossible to walk in; they merely flapped up and down at the back like a pair of flip-flops, then eventually fell off alltogether. I have a similar pair of court shoes, this time with an ankle strap and a slightly higher heel. I can walk fine in them. The trouble is, they're not very comfortable and look old fashioned.

Every where I go, I see women defying the laws of physics by walking around in strapless court shoes; their feet seemingly glued into them. How the hell do you do it, ladies? Do you walk around with your toes curled up?

I'm going to this year's fancy dress do dressed as a nurse, so I need to know your seceret.

There are two answers to wearing very high heels. One is that a lot of women have actually had their feet surgically altered so that they can get into these crazy shoes.
The other answer is, buy more expensive shoes for high heels. The better the shoe the more balanced the heels are. I'm not going to say go out and buy a pair of Manolo Blahniks, but I can tell you that I could not walk in any heels until I started wearing them and can now walk in 3 inch heels and not fall over and hurt myself.

No you just have to wear heels that fit perfectly...usually heels run a size smaller than your sneakers do. So I wear a size 6 US sneakers, I wear a size 5-5 1/2 in heels.

Also it takes practise! lol It doesnt come over night! You have to have good posture and balance!

you HAVE to get shoes that fit. period. and it is true that if you start with a lower heel and then work up over a few weeks to a higher heel they are easy to walk in. i actually prefer to wear 4 or 5 inch heels rather than flats.

I do not even own a pair of heels that are under 4 inches. Just walk slowly, and small steps at first, you will get it!

As a woman myself, i have to tell you..I think high-heeled shoes are a form of torture that probably was invented by a man. They are abnormal, uncomfortable and serve no purpose other than for some crazy reason people think they look nice. I never got it myself.

I've never had a problem with them coming off. Just make sure you have the correct size, other than that I don't know why they would do that. Maybe you dont have an arch in your feet?

If you have narrow heels, high heeled shoes with no straps will fall right off. I have to curl my toes to wear them, so I always wear heels with straps (like fancy sandals and such.)

We start with the smaller heels and work our way up to the big ones.

I guess it's like riding a bike. You just learn to balance yourself as you walk. I have no problems whatsoever.
