Sex is just one type of infidelity, but any broken promise hurts. When it comes to the heart, infidelity hurts because it begs so many questions - "Does that person love someone else?" or "Did they ever love me at all?" "Am I worth being loved?"
The average person turns inward to look for answers to the questions of betrayal. In reality, those answers lie in the person who is committing the infidelity.
It hurts because you have no control over the actions of another person - hence the word "victim". Work on the things you can control and leave the issues of character to the person who is having the problem.

it hurts because u know it didn't have to happen, your dreams and life were literally stolen by another, u trusted this person with your heart, and they totally abused the trust u gave them. it hurts because we feel less of a human being, we wonder what that other person had, that we could not have given them. it hurts because we love them, and thought they were ours only. it affects our self worth, because we thought life was one way only to find out it may have all just been an illusion, our illusion.

I didn't ask the question, but that's true. The fact that someone is sharing a very intimate part of themselves with another person is what makes it hurt so much. Thank you.

Rules are made to be broken. Eat from the Tree of Life and not from the tree of "knowlege of good and evil".
How self-absorbed are we to think that anyone could "betray" us? It's self inflicted pain.

It hurts because of the betrayal involved. There is loss, and pain, and emptiness, as though nothing matters. It is a terrible thing, making you doubt your worth. But life goes on......
