I have found some that the links are too narrow-they need to be about 1/2 thick and about 1 inch long

Try Panduro. You can buy a copy of their catalogue for about £3 in WHSniths. They sell lots of different craft stuff and have a section on bag making.

activity shops, like Michael's, activity foyer, etc etc...all of them have sections of chains, clasps, beads, handles, etc to make your very own rings and purses in case you do in comparison to those options, look into your close by ironmongery save interior the rope/chain section.

The big B&Q store sell it on the roll, you just cut off the lenght you need.Cad only Knows this because we needed some more chain for one of the guest rooms................ I say
