Emo was actually a genre of music that was popular in the 80s and early 90s, but a lot of bands today are labeled emo anyway...

Hawthorne Heights
Dashboard Confessional
Taking Back Sunday
Fall Out Boy
Senses Fail
Cartel
Panic! At the Disco
Funeral For a Friend
From First to Last

↑ I don't like all of those bands, those are just the ones that are commonly labeled emo...

Dashboard Confessional
Death Cab For Cutie
Taking Back Sunday
Fall Out Boy
Bright Eyes
From First to Last
Academy Is...
The Used
Brand New
Story Of the Year
Hawthorne Heights
The Cure
And some say Yellowcard is emo, but I don't really think so

On amazon you can listen to 30 second bits of each song.

The reason I like emo is because of all the emotion in their voices, and because it seems like the majority of emo bands care more about writing a good song and the music more than getting famous.

And there are many different kinds of emo, from sappy to screamo and everything in-between. So give all the bands a try.
