HONESTLY, filling out a bracket is all luck, there's no definetes in March Madness, anyone can have a bad game, while some teams can have an amasing game, let alone an amasing run... I mean I filled out a bracket in 1 minute just going with my gut, turned out pretty good and had a good mix of upsets and had all the odds right (i mean no 1 vs. 16 upset, all 4 #1 seeds didn't make it to the final four, just things that have never happened, those are the only odds i pay attention too) next I pick all the teams have atleast one dominant player (texas, ohio st. florida, and so on...) thats for the first round only, for the rest of the games, I think of match ups, like stanford verse lousville, a lot of people are picking louisville, but stanfords got two twin towers that play down low, who have been playing together forever and always know what the other one is thinking, where louisvilles low-post isn't very strong, so I got standford winning that game...then I read all the ESPN articles abou possible upsets and cinderellas, they basically agreed on the same teams although some people would say butler will suprise people while others said old dominion (there opponent in the first round) is the team to watch out for...so I read all the explanations looked at there last few games before the tournaments, are they hot, whats there previous stats, is there starters older like juniors or seniors, or younger guys, how long have they played together, where are they playing if they play close to home, they'll have a good fan turn out which could psych them up and give them a home game feeling which could give them the edge over the opponent, and lastly whats there coaches history, ever been to the tourney, how'd he do, how long has he been coaching the team, if he's only been coaching 1-3 years he didnt pick all the guys that are playing for him, where if he has been there 4 or more years he had a say in all the players and has been with them since the begining a defenit plus...that should get u through the first round, now in the second round is the hardest cause u can find a good reason to give a team an upset in the first round, but u have to have a real good hunch or reason to give them the cinderella role, knocking out another team and advancing...basically u have to guess if it came down to one game, between 32 teams, who would be the top 16 teams, not who had the best recordin the season, or best record in previous tourneys, just who can step up for that one game...I go through the same elimination processes I take texas cause of Durant and his crew, Florida because they are the same players as last year, and have so much experience together, and ohio st. cause of odum...all the rest are really match ups, and streaks, have they been playing good, does a low ranked team have a player that kind of looks like he can blow up for one game...how comfortable does the team feel or look being in the biggest tournament on earth... It takes balls to give these upsets cause if u get them wrong ur most likely out of it, but if u take a chance go against most of the other brackets in ur group and that upset works out like u predicted 1)you look like a genius, and get a lot of fans quickly 2)u have a leg up on people that didnt pick the upset, cause most upsets are over teams that atleast one person had going to the final four, so his bracket is pretty much shot! Now on to the elite 8, it's basically end of the road for the cinderella teams, unless you find a mismatch in the players, dont focus on anything else like populariyt, record, coaches, how cool there jerseys are, just look at whose going up against eachother, for example texas could face stanford if they both get that far, and I can see the twins from stanford causing a lot of problems for durant, but I still would pick texas because the other players arent good enough to cover the other two above average players on texas, so in the end they might fight a good game, and everyone will think durant is stoppable, while it was just the fact that two twins stepped up when it was time to play the big game, but they just weren't as well balanced and couldn't defend the other players on texas... So feel free to pick a crazy upset if u really think its possible, cause once again if u dont pick it like everyone else you'll stay even with the rest of ur group, but if u take the chance on a team and they do win, u pretty much took a few steps up on ur group, cause whoever they upset was definelty a pick on a couple brackets to be in the championship game.... okay final four, cinderella story is definetly over now, basically if a team is ranked 9-16 the chances of them winning another game against a well developed/skilled team is so unlikely, PLUS you are already ahead of ur group cause u predicted that upset, so nobody will even have the underdog winning, cause they didnt even have them getting that far...so its safer to just go with the best team here...if its an even match up, I'd look at there scores from the previous games, and if u get the chance actually watch them...consider a bunch of things, how much did they win by, did they play good and dominate or play good and barely get buy...if they dominated then they have stuff clicking and they are a good choice to win, but if they barely pulled off the win u need to dig a lil deeper, did they have a lot of mental mistakes (call timeout with no timeouts left, travel numerous time, make stupid passes or shots) or did they make physical mistakes, not cover guys, give up the lane easily, basically play it safe, saving there energy...if they made a lot of mental mistakes that means they are probably tired, exhausted from the travel and the back to back games, most likely gonna become a snowball effect in the final four, i wouldn't go with them...but if they made physical mistakes u need to narrow it down to see if maybe they were underestimating there opponent and taking it easy saving there energy for the last two games, or if they made stupid passes and stupid shots, it means they could be too relaxed, thats a hard one, cause they could be too relaxed until the final four, or too relaxed for the whole tournament, u gotta just go with ur gut feeling....WAIT I JUST REALIZED U CANT WATCH THOSE GAMES, well u'll have to just go with ur gut, who belongs in the final game...I can assure you if u pick a team that nobody is thinking will make it, you'll be wrong, nobody is gonna make sucha turn around and make it all the way, play it safe cause the last 3 games are for the big points, pick teams like NC, GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, OHIO STATE, FLORIDA, and you can even go as low as texas a&m who everyone is talking abuot being underrated, just dont pick duke, or butler, ucla, wsu, gonzaga...u gotta realize ur not just playing urself ur playing ur group, the chances of someone else taking that chance to have an extreme underdog get that far are slim to none, and if they do power to them, but everyone is gonna play it semi-similar, but since u hopefully picked more upsets right, and got a solid record through the sweet 16 ur gonna be ahead of them in points so if u pick the same team and win ur still ahead, if u pick the same team and lose ur still ahead...I'd say no one worse then a 4 seed, unless they are just ranked low because they have a powerful conference like texas A&M maybe UCLA, and such...the final game is up to u completely, theres no way of guessing whos gonna win, the only thing i suggest is if u get to the final too with say florida playing ohio state, and a lot of people are picking florida, ask them about some of there upsets if they got the same ideas as u, pick against, if they didnt pick the same upsets go for florida...u just gotta play it right, remember everyone elses brackets are just as important as ur bracket, the more meaningless 1st and 2nd round games u get right, the more u can go with the sure thing and play it safe, because u'll already have an advantage from picking good upsets!!!
